Meet The Team | Chelsie Gehrke

05/26/2022 Tags: Announcements

Join us in welcoming one of our newest team members at Casey Peterson, LTD, Chelsie Gehrke. She joined us as an administrative assistant in early March.

As part of our admin team, Chelsie does a little bit of everything. Right now, her primary responsibilities include processing tax returns and covering the front desk when needed. Chelsie will eventually become the primary administrative assistant for our firm’s trust accounts. She says that no matter how she interacts with clients, she wants them to feel confident and comfortable that she can help them or put them in contact with someone who can.

Previously, Chelsie worked in a temporary position for H&R Block and a smaller firm in Watertown, South Dakota. She attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, earning her bachelor’s in criminal justice with minors in business, political science, sociology, and legal studies.

Chelsie doesn’t get much free time. But when she does, she enjoys driving with the windows down on a nice day. She also enjoys face masks, cruising, movie nights, organization, being crafty, and time spent with her fiancé and their cat, Oreo.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

“Every sinner has a future, every saint has a past.”

FAVORITE PODCASTS AND BOOKS

I have found that I enjoy classic political novels like, for example, “The Prince” by Niccolo Machiavelli. I feel that he properly portrayed the raw truth behind his reasonings. I also enjoyed “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption” by Bryan Stevenson.

Self-help books have really been somewhat of an eye-opener for me this last year, for many reasons. For fun, I do have a few YouTubers that I will occasionally listen to who discuss interesting criminal cases, as well as interesting-yet-random facts about many worldly mysteries.

THREE QUESTIONS:

WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TALENT THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT?

Music is something I’ve always enjoyed. I played flute in high school and have also played piano, saxophone, and French horn. Choir was my favorite, though I can’t read music too well and sing by ear. When I was 16, I got to travel because of my music. I now only sing by myself or when we attend church.

WHAT MOVIE CAN YOU WATCH A MILLION TIMES?

Either “Grown Ups” or “8 Seconds.” It would depend on if I’m in the mood for a comedy or a heart-touching drama.

IF YOU COULD VISIT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHY?

Europe. I would travel all European countries to absorb the cultures and history. I wouldn’t be able to decide on any one place. I would love to backpack across every continent, although I would avoid Paris. Personally, the only reason I would return there would be to tour The Louvre more.

DON'T LIKE NUMBERS? WE DO.

At Casey Peterson, LTD, we understand not everyone loves the complexities of accounting like we do. That's what sets us apart from the rest. Our CPAs, accountants, and financial advisors truly love numbers, solving problems, and creating business and financial strategies for our clients.

We’re looking for clients who believe in good customer service — clients who want CPAs, accountants, and financial advisors who are big-picture thinkers and ethical problem solvers. We’re looking for relationships, not transactions.

If you want the same, we should talk.
