Whether we’re volunteering at a community event or providing financial support for the incredible nonprofits in our area, a big part of our culture is being a good community partner.

YFS Buddy Bench
One of our previous team members, the late Phil Zacher, was a huger supporter of a local nonprofit, Youth & Family Services. To commemorate his efforts to support YFS, we sponsored a “Buddy Bench.” Kids looking for someone to talk to can sit on the bench as a signal to others that they need a friend.
Community Corner
Through Community Corner in our Rapid City office, we give local artists and nonprofits space to display their work and explain what they’re doing in the community. Past participants have included Dustin Twiss, Black Hills Works, Robin Thrash, Girls, Inc., Kat Thompson, and Border Paws Dog Rescue.
School Supply Drive
Staff donate school supplies to local students through the BHFCU School Support Drive at the start of each school year. Over the years, our team has donated thousands of dollars worth of supplies.
Day of Caring
Every year, team members donate their time to United Way of the Black Hills’s Day of Caring. Typically, we spend an afternoon helping at Feeding South Dakota, whether sorting food, filling backpacks, or packing boxes.
