Meet the Team | Susan Roth

Join us in welcoming one of our newest team members at Casey Peterson, LTD, Susan Roth. She joined us at the end of August as a Tax Associate and previously had been a Tax Intern in the spring of 2020.
Susan recently graduated with her accounting degree from Black Hills State University and is working toward becoming a CPA, taking her first exam in August. She knew she wanted to do her internship at our firm during her freshman year after meeting our Tax Manager Lori Larson — the “10-key queen with the golden 10-key” — at an accounting fair.
Although she’s new to her role and the industry, Susan’s already developing a client-focused mindset. She understands that most people don’t enjoy doing their taxes. So, her goal is to help clients become more comfortable with the process.
When she’s not working or studying to earn her CPA, Susan loves to spend time with her friends, whether they’re going to concerts, floating down the creek, or snowmobiling in the winter. But her favorite activity is making the “short” five-hour drive back home to Parkston to help out on the family farm and see her puppy.

TOP 3 BOOKS/PODCASTS
“I haven’t had much time for fun reading since high school as I did a five-year program in four years, but I want to start reading more after I pass my CPA exams.”
WHAT WAS THE BEST CONCERT YOU’VE EVER BEEN TO?
Going to concerts is one of my favorite things to do. My first big concert was Reba McEntire when I was 12, but my favorite venue ever is The Deadwood Mountain Grand for the Red Dirt Festival.
WHAT ARE TWO ITEMS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
1. Travel to all 50 states. (I’m at 30.)
2. Get my CPA before I turn 24.
WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TALENT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT?It’s not really a secret, but not a lot of people know it either. I sew some of my own clothes. I’ve been sewing since I was 9 in 4-H and competing at the fair and different competitions in the state since. I have won everything from new sewing pins to a trip to New Orleans.

DON'T LIKE NUMBERS? WE DO.
At Casey Peterson, LTD, we understand not everyone loves the complexities of accounting like we do. That's what sets us apart from the rest. Our CPAs, accountants, and financial advisors truly love numbers, solving problems, and creating business and financial strategies for our clients.
We’re looking for clients who believe in good customer service — clients who want CPAs, accountants, and financial advisors who are big-picture thinkers and ethical problem solvers. We’re looking for relationships, not transactions.
If you want the same, we should talk.
