Introducing Jacki Star, the newest member of our HR department in our Rapid City office!

- What do you do here? I have joined the HR team, assisting Christy Stabber with anything I can – HR related or not.
- Where did you or do you go to school, and if you got a degree, what was it in? I attended SDSM&T for 2.5 years. Then, I transferred and graduated from National American University with a degree in Computer Information Systems.
- What did you do before you came to the firm? I’ve worked in HR/Safety roles with a surface mining (family-owned/operated) company for more than 16 years. Also, as an HR/Safety professional with an Agricultural Services company in western SD. HR Manager for ~3 years at a company specializing in all aspects of underground and overhead cable, electrical, and gas. Office Manager at an environmental laboratory. Most enjoyable job… a server/trainer (7+years) at a very popular restaurant in Rapid City … or it WAS way back when. 😊
- Do you belong to any professional or community organizations? Tell us about them. SHRM – I’ve spent decades volunteering with Special Olympics.
- What did you want to be when you grew up? A nurse, but I faint at the sight of blood, so that was never going to happen!
- What do you do for fun? Anything outdoors
- What’s your favorite book? Most recent: “Remarkably Bright Creatures”
- What’s your favorite movie? “Sweet Home Alabama”
- Who’s your favorite band? Don’t really have ONE, enjoy modern country music
- What’s your favorite song? I know all the words to a lot of songs but not the artists
- What’s on your bucket list? As much travel as I can before I can’t
