Internship / Job Shadowing

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Casey Peterson, Ltd. is pleased to provide students with the hands-on experience of working for a public accounting firm through an accounting internship program.

Interested accounting internship applicants must be full-time students with a 3.0 GPA who have completed their Junior year and intermediate accounting classes. Audit coursework is not necessary, but recommended. Applicants pursuing a degree in Accountancy or related equivalent, and have a desire to work in public accounting upon graduation will be given preference.

Casey Peterson, Ltd. prefers to provide accounting internship opportunities during the second semester (January – April), but will also consider summer and fall accounting internships on request. Accounting internships will provide students with experience in the tax, accounting, or audit field. All internships are paid a competitive wage and are eligible for course credit, depending on the applicant's school requirements. The firm will strive to achieve whatever standards the requirements dictate.

The success and growth of the firm is highly dependent on the quality of the Casey Peterson, Ltd. team. Therefore, the firm is committed to place a minimum of one intern per year. All accounting internships will be reviewed and definitely considered for full-time employment after graduation.

Students interested in the internship program should submit a resume to Human Resources prior to October 31 of each year. Interns will typically be offered positions by approximately November 15 of each year for our upcoming spring, summer, and fall internship programs. Resumes submitted after October 31 of each year will be considered, but we encourage applicants to submit resumes prior to October 31 of each year.

JOB SHADOWING

Job shadowing is a type of on-the-job training in which a student desiring to become familiar with a job, follows and observes a trained and experienced employee. Job shadowing allows a student to gain comprehensive knowledge about what an employee who holds a particular job does in that job every day.

The firm feels that job shadowing is most beneficial prior to completion of the Sophomore year of college. This will help students decide whether or not they want to continue toward their goal of becoming a CPA. Students are required to have maintained a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this program.

Casey Peterson, Ltd. job shadowing takes place over a period of up to four weeks, typically attending two half days a week. The job shadowing program will typically be made available to students May 1 – August 31 of each year. However, if other arrangements can be made that are mutually beneficial to the student and the firm, the job shadowing program may be made available outside of the May 1 – August 31 time-frame. Time will be spent with each department including observing an audit, and observing an Accounting Associate to experience the broad range of daily activities.

Students are not paid for their time spent in the job shadowing program and are required to sign a nondisclosure/ confidentiality agreement.

I enjoyed participating in their job shadowing program

“I chose to intern with Casey Peterson because of the firm’s welcoming staff as well as its potential for growth. I enjoyed participating in their job shadowing program the summer before my internship which was a unique opportunity that was not offered by many other firms. Overall, my internship was flexible depending on my interests, dynamic, and professionally rewarding”

Rhye L., Intern 2017

I had so many hands-on experiences

“My whole life I remember telling people that I never wanted to do taxes and after my internship I couldn’t imagine doing much else. I had so many hands-on experiences that I came out of my internship confident knowing that I would be perfectly happy doing taxes for the rest of my life. The environment here at Casey Peterson is so welcoming and they truly want you to succeed at whatever you feel like doing, whether that is taxes, auditing, or accounting services. I could not recommend a better internship. ”

Samantha S., Intern 2017

DON'T LIKE NUMBERS? WE DO.

At Casey Peterson, LTD, we understand not everyone loves the complexities of accounting like we do. That's what sets us apart from the rest. Our CPAs, accountants, and financial advisors truly love numbers, solving problems, and creating business and financial strategies for our clients.

We’re looking for clients who believe in good customer service — clients who want CPAs, accountants, and financial advisors who are big-picture thinkers and ethical problem solvers. We’re looking for relationships, not transactions.

If you want the same, we should talk.
